Ungar Furs Protests Every Saturday

"Portland made history with the shutting down of schumacher furs but there is
still much more work to be done. We must continue the fight and let others know
that we will not tolerate fur stores in our city. Nicholas Ungar Furs, you are
next...

We are going to be there every Saturday. Come and join us to stand up for the
animals!

The store is only open from the the hours of 10am to 1pm on Saturdays so lets
all get out there!

Take it to 'em guys!!!! The Schumacher protests inspired us up here in Vancouver, Canada. We're trying to get the new Pappas Furs retail location shut down inside Aberdeen Mall in Richmond, a suburb of Vancouver. If you have a minute please email Aberdeen Centre and ask them to terminate Pappas' lease at the mall:

email: info@aberdeencentre.com, promotion@aberdeencentre.com, leasing@aberdeencentre.com

Thanks...and good luck down there!!!! We'll see you soon at Food Fight!

Thanks, Canadian. While I haven't been too involved in Ungar yet, as someone who went to just about every single Schumacher demo over a year and a half or so, and stayed the whole miserable 5 hours through the pouring rain and cold in the winter, and burning heat in the summer, and harrassment by the police and security guards and courts and so on - it means a lot to hear that those protests inspired you all!

Remember: persistence is the key. We showed up and stayed even when the store did tricky things like close for the day, hoping we would go away and lose momentum. We brought music and food, and tried to make it into a party, even when it was damn miserable outside. Sometimes there were just a few of us out there with signs and wet literature, but we stayed.

Victory goes to whoever wants it the most. Good luck.

If you want to read more about Schumacher demos, do a search on Portland Indymedia for demo write ups.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out Indymedia.
I can relate to the cold and wetness...ugh. Some days there's only a few of us out there on the most miserable of days, but eye on the prize. And like is said, what we go through is nothing in comparison.
I like the music and food idea. I'll look into that. Keeping it fun will hopefully inspire people to keep coming out.
And the security and cop thing....ya, that's increased substantially lately. Makes me feel we're getting something accomplished.

Come out to this, people!

Join us, it is a very relaxed/easy atmosphere and 3 hours is up before you know it.

I promise that you will feel a little kick in your step the rest of the week, knowing that you got out & did something real for the animals and that it was so easy!
