How about the fact that if you give a shit about the environment then you bring your own reusable bag? I have about 10 of them I've collected over the years and reuse any other bags until they have holes in them. What is wrong with people?
If you need to purchase new bags then you should charge for them. More incentive for people to bring their own bags. The idea of reimbursing 5 cents per bag is lame because people don't care. But if you actually CHARGE them for the bag, well then they might wake up.
Take a stand. Charge for bags. It's good for the environment so it's good for the animals.

By buying "new" bags, we meant buying new recycled bags. They last us a very long time, because (already) many people bring their old bags back in, or cloth bags. Plus, tons of people bring us stacks of paper bags to reuse from other stores. So, we're not gonna start charging for bags, we don't think it's that bad. We have good customers who do indeed give a shit about the environment.
