New Products?

Hey everybody. Now is your chance to comment on what new products we should consider for our new space. Please leave as specific of comments as you can, so we can find 'em. We're gonna have double the refrigerated space now and some bulk too. So... yeah, get to thinking. What do you have to get elsewhere that you'd rather give us money for? Thanks.

Comments:
bulk: dr. bronner's, as well as dish/laundry/general soaps, conditioner, pasta, cereal (anything non-granola or boring flakes would be great), tortilla chips.

bring back the vegan ham log!

Vegan Thai spices. That stuff is so hard to come by. I only found it at a little hippie store in Maine years ago.

Oh yeah, bulk Jerquee to fill the void left by the Daily Grind?

List of things I'd love to buy from you but have to go someplace else: (I know this list is long and I'm not possibly expecting you to carry it all, just what came to mind! =)

-Rudy's wheat bread.
-baguettes
-Ives? deli slices
-a different brand of refried beans
-plain rice milk
-unsweetened soy milk
-organic frozen juice
-fruits/veggies (I think you're gonna cover that)
-kitty litter
-bulk nuts/dried fruit
-papa G's Tofu
-makeup section

dr. bronner's in bulk for sure! pet items, female products, sex toys would be rad

yes, makeup! i can't find (somewhat affordable) mascara anywhere.

also, bulk refridgerated items like vital wheat gluten(!)..

oooohhh...non-hemp lip balm would be nice, and flour tortillas too, please.

Beauty Without Cruelty: SPF 15 Daily Facial Lotion

Zuzu Luxe cosmetics: mascara, face powder and lip gloss (popping or not)

Soy Boy Okara Courage Burgers!

Stupid Soy Boy is only available back east. Cursed refrigerated products.

yes, all the household items in bulk: laundry detergent, soap, shampoo, conditioner, etc.

also beans and lentils (green french ones and red ones too) and rice and stuff in bulk (like the staples)-also maybe flour and sugar and stuff like that in bulk, nuts (esp. tamari almonds and raw almonds), etc. and any kind of candy in bulk. if you can get tofu in bulk that would be rad, too (peeps and alberta coops both carry it)...basically i try to do as much of my shopping in bulk as possible, so if you're able to make a big bulk section then it means i could probably do almost all my food shopping at FF!

love love

one thing: Eco-Planet non-dairy cheddar crackers (aka vegan cheez-its/goldfish)

I know this isn't going to happen, but how about some shoes? Maybe this would be better for Herbivore to carry though...

oh yeah, those eco-planet crackers are tasty as heck. i ate a whole box super fast once, and i'd do it again. lots of bulk stuff would be super. do you have peanut butter already? i forget...if not, you should sell peanut butter. my boyfriend eats a lot of peanut butter.

i second peanut butter!!!

especially CRUNCHY!!!!

if you got crunchy, i would consider it a recurring birthday present.

- Pirate Booty Carmel Puffs

- Lite Life Smart Bacon and Chick'm Strips

- Yaya's Popcorn...Herb is the shit

- SLurpee, Slush Puppy, Shave ice thingie...I would visit daily.

Someone suggested soft serve ice cream a while ago, I think... I'd get it all the time if you got a machine.

maybe almond butter in addition to peanut butter...the bulk in the tub at people's is the best.
christine

hi there. just wanted to say our bulk area isn't gonna be that big compared to a lot of other stores, so we're still gonna have to be somewhat picky with what's in our bulk section. sorry, we wish we can get every product you all are suggesting.

I miss the shredded faux crab meat.

peanut butter & almond butter bulk, even though everyone else has said it too. bulk grains & "staple" things, to jump on the train. one million containers of that zen soy chocolate milk, too. i will buy all one million of them.

http://followyourheart.com/salad_dressings_fn.php
Pleasepleasepleaseplease get the "Original Caesar" dressing on this page (not that shitty Veganaise one that they also offer). It's the best, most authentic vegan Caesar and I used to buy it at Daily Grind. It tastes so good in a wrap, with some soy chicken nugs...

I'm dying to start trying this new rice yogurt, too.

http://ricerafoods.com/

BULK TEMPEH!!!

I'll second the Follow Your Heart caesar. I haven't tried it, but if it's that good, I'll buy it regularly. I looked on the site and there doesn't seem to be another local distributor.

The Ricera yogurt is not vegan and may not even be vegetarian due to the vitamin D3. I've heard they might be switching this over to D2, but to my knowledge this hasn't happened yet.

Shoes! Yes shoes! No one has vegan shoes. Please stock these! Also Chicago Soy Dairy Temptations Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream. And Soy Delicious Cherry Nirvana. And herbed tofu. And Silk soy yogurt. And Tofutti cheese slices. And plain mushrooms. And french bread or flat bread that is so good that you just want to eat it in the store. And orange juice not from concentrate. And Boca Chick patties. And frozen vegetables like lima beans, okra, cauliflower and corn. Ok, thats a nice start.

We can't carry shoes. Very big investment, plus, we're a grocery store. Start a shoe store, we need one.

Chicago Soy Dairy is unavailable on the west coast. We won't carry Silk or Boca. Shitty companies.

We have Tofutti Cheese slices already.

"Silk Soy Drink is part of the White Wave corporation, itself a Dean Foods subsidiary. And according to Glover and Resnick, Dean Foods' main investors include Microsoft, General Electric, Citigroup, Pfizer, Philip Morris, Exxon-Mobil, Coca Cola, Wal-Mart, PepsiCo and Home Depot."

"Boca Burger is owned by Kraft, which is part of Philip Morris."

GranoVita or Soyatoo whipping cream in tetra packs. Yum!
Care packages from the old country only arrive once a year, and we LOVE the stuff.

Bulk powdered milk, any kind (soy, rice, whatever). They have it at Whole Foods for like $2 a pound, which is waaaaay cheaper than the canisters, and it can be used as coffee creamer, for baking, candy making, or in order to save space so you don't have to always have soymilk taking up the pantry or refrigerator space.

Sunergia vegan feta! please!
Cheezly
bulk anything, nooch, quinoa, etc...

I would like to buy fresh Ago kisses, and would accept a certain percentage of nips.

hi again. just wanted everyone to know we thank you for all your suggestions, and please don't be mad if we don't end up carrying anything you suggested because you gotta understand we are still going to be a small store compared to the big chains, and we can't carry everything even if we wanted to. it's usually a matter of space, demand, and availability that goes into what we carry, so please don't take it personally.
love,
emiko and chad

- Bulk filtered water (for refills)

- Lettuce (green or red leafy)

- Cucumbers

- Brocoleeeee

- Red onions!

- Good (fuji/honeycrisp, etc) Apples

- Bananaz

- Beanz

- Brown Rice

- Bulk raw sugar

- No-stir crunchy organic pbutta

- Tortillas

Ooooooohhhhh....

And bulk TVP of different shapes/sizes/flavors!

Yes those non dairy cheese crackers that someone mentioned!!

OOOOOOH! Tofutti used to make a REAL candy bar, with nougat and covered in chocolate and everything. If those are still available, I would pay dearly for them...

Whole Foods Market at Bridgeport carries Earth Vegan Shoes.

VEGAN MARSHMALLOWS.

Sidecar has 'em. You gonna let them make y'all look like chumps? Huh? Huh??

bulk chocolate covered pretzels!!

Sidecar has crap for shoes.

Get over it and let them be about it. I'm so tired of whiny vegans complaining about shoes.

I also would love to try the goldfish-knockoff crackers. Also, if you guys can get Vegecat kibble mix (and think there's a market for it), it would rock.

I'm sure you have it covered, but I'd like to see leafy vegs (not lettuce - kale, spinache, collards, things you can steam) in the produce section.

I'd also like to see FF take a stand against bottled water, but I'm sure you'd get a lot of crap for it.

Overall it seems like the new store will provide all the vegan novelties I could ever want. I'm really, REALLY excited.

If they took a stand over bottled water they'd have to take a stand over nearly all their products. So much of that stuff is in serious packaging.

hey lauren.
FYI: all of the above will NOT be in the new store. only a handful of selected items.

dk: I know this. I meant that what I know for sure about the store so far is more than enough for me already.

Anonymous: yeah, I know that everything is packaged and many things are packaged outrageously.. but it's water. Water!

Water is the most important anything you can ever buy or consume.

I did stop buying bottled water on any regular basis and just get the bulk water in a reusable container though.

But I mean, nothing is more wasteful than spawning and FF does carry condoms, maybe a vegan plan b pill is next(primrose)?

I usually drink from "the sink." Poisoned water also leads to population control, so yeah, we ARE anti-waste. xoxo chad

you know i'm all about taking a stand against babies : )

The Salsitas rival MexiSnacks... seriously. Damn good flavored chips.

what about Goldenberg Peanut Chews?

fresh salsa - Tribal Sun is my fave :)
