Thanks Chad and Emiko for being so supportive in the five months since we were first "served" the complaint. I tip my hat (if I had one) to you. A big relief it is. The Schumachers have been lacking a very important thing, evidence. They haven't presented it to the court because the evidence supporting the allegations of wrongdoing by the named defendants doesn't exist. Allegations aren't evidence, they are just allegations. Legal free speech, that's what was going on at the corner of SW 9th & Morrison. All of the claims against IDA, PETA, Matt Rossell and Connie Durkee were dismissed on June 18, as were most of the claims pertaining to me. I'm thankful the judge has ruled (last Friday) in my favor on the remaining issues/claims. We've always had the truth on our side. It's a victory for free speech and the animals. The Schumachers submitted a Motion For Reconsideration (appeal) pertaining to the anti-SLAPP rulings in favor of IDA, PETA, Rossell and Durkee. I will be shocked if there is a reversal in those rulings. I won't be surprised if the Motion for Reconsideration is amended to include me or if I get my own. We've done nothing wrong. We will prevail on the appeal. The website shumacherfurs.com was part of the Schumacher's argument in the recent decision. The website lives and I've posted most of the court docs (not including the City of Portland's part of the case) from this case there. They are publicly available on another website (the court's PACER site) but for a per page fee. Some of the early PETA docs aren't included on my site. Jami Pannell (Animal Law Clinic, Lewis & Clark Law School) and Shauna Curphey (formerly with the NW Constitutional Right Center and now with the Federal Public Defenders Office) have been an awesome legal team, with Jami in the lead, and I'm thankful they've argued the case on my behalf. Way to go Jami and Shauna!!
