Fur-Trapping Season Could Endanger Pets

Bobcats and housecats. No f'ing difference. One is a "fur-bearer", oh, I see. How do fur-turds (furds?) not see it? At least I have a leftover 3 day old box of donuts for comfort this morning.

Schumacher has had a dead bobcat displayed in their window (stuffed head, body flattened out like a rug) for months now (and he/she does look pretty much like a housecat). Fur buyers and wearers see it - they just don't care. During protests many of them have seen video of animals being tortured for the fur industry - they just don't care.

I hope the Schumachers don't decide to skin their dogs alive during the next frost.

I think it would be possible to gather the political will to ban fur-trapping, if people united about their love of pets/danger to those pets. In terms of how many people keep/love pets versus how many people wear/love furs, I think the pet owners would be in the majority, so it would all be a matter of organizing good PR materials.

I agree that it's possible, but it will be an uphill struggle, as the trappers seem to carry a lot of political weight. Past initiatives to ban steel jaw leghold traps have failed; and even attempts to shorten the trap check requirement have failed. A few years ago I was one of many people testifying at a Fish and Wildlife Commission hearing on reducing the amount of time by which trappers must check their traps. I was BY FAR in the majority opinion. But the commissioners were all on the side of the trappers, and nothing changed. It would take a lot of pressure to change the laws on trapping, I believe.

I will never understand. Lets protect cats and dogs but all other animals can be tortured for the sake of a coat. If cat and dog fur is illegal in this country, why can't all fur be illegal.

Hey, if dog-fur coats are good enough for Sean John...
